PHOTOS: Montmartre

Walked through this arch (rue du Abbesses) when I got off the metro and began my Montmartre walk (...climb!)

It's "Greek to me!" But, this is ONE of the climbs. The kid wonders what I'm doing?!
Montmarte is hillllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly!

Someone painting. Sill many art studios to be found here.

Circus Shop. Unicycles, clown shoes, juggling supplies, magic tricks!

LE BATEAU LAVIOR, the piano-factory-turned-artist's-studios where Picasso, Jaun Gris, Modigliani and Apollinaire worked in squalor. "None of us were truly happy, except there," said Picasso after he moved into more bourgeois lodgings.

Window of Bateau Lavoir with trees reflected.

"Tres Parisian!"

JACQUES BREL, (although Belgian, a "hero" in France) hanging on the wall of a Piano Bar in Montmartre!

Le Moulin de la Galette, the site of the guinguette (celebrated dancehall) painted by Renoir.
There are two windmills still remaining in Montmartre, one is seen here.

"Bal au Moulin de la Galette," by Renior
(Tell Barb Millis that I am thinking of Her!!! If SHE were here with me, we'd definitely have a dinner here, Dance, and get DRUNK on expensive Red Wine!!!)

Inside of what is housed at the location today, "Le Moulin de la Galette."
(Would have been fun to have had dinner here, but I opted for a plate of french fries down the road, instead!$!$

"STUDIO 28" opened in 1928 (and still going strong) is where Luis Bunuel's controversial Surrealist classic L' Age d'Or had it riotous premiere in 1930. Jean Cocteau quote written above the entrance on the inside (it's in french so I didn't know what it said!)

"A Little Theatre" (TINY!) on a hillside in Montmartre.
I think they were holding auditions. A girl got on stage and started reading while I was peering (that' s PEERing... not peeing!) through the window.

Paris toward the end of another beautiful day.

Paris at dusk with the city's lone skyscraper Tour Montparnasse, looming.

"Kitty du Montmarte." After I snapped the photo, a very little old man came out, got kitty and closed the door. - A poetic scene. (The whole of Monmartre is a poetic scene!) Walking the same streets as some of these great artists gives me goosebumps! "Meow." Maybe if I kiss the ground I'll imbue some inspiration.

The omnipresent Sacre' Coeur at dusk!

Your's truly, at the foot of Sacre' Coeur, Montmartre.
