Lost in the Rain

After settling into the apartment, somewhat. I ventured out to explore. I am just two blocks away from one of the "main drags" Monge Street. I thought I would walk to The Marais to get something to eat. It's 8:00 pm here in Paris. I left the apartment at 4:00. During those 4 hours I got so completely lost I never even made it close to The Marais. It rained the entire time. I was yelled at by some guy on the street, and didn't understand a single word. I honestly have no idea if he was trying to "pick me up" or if he was "making fun of me" so I just smiled, and he started laughing. I Asked a couple of people for directions and when I asked if they spoke English, they replied with an abrupt "no."
Mistakenly, I gave a two dollar tip for a three dollar cup or coffee. Mind you, it is Tuesday evening and I have not slept since Sunday night. I was so famished I stopped into a little cafe' and ordered a vegetarian panini (I know, it's Italian) and the melted cheese was so hot, I burned the sh*t out of the roof of my mouth.

C'est la Vie. Beautiful City!!!

God bless,

Jo.

Jojo! My first day in Paris I got completely lost - I followed the map but did everything backward. I think it's an initiation thing. It may also be jetlag/geographic disorientation.

To walk to the Marais, cross from the il de la cite (where Notre Dame is) over pont st. louis and cross the beautiful ile st.louis at pont louis phillipe. Then take rue louis phillipe to rue vielle du temple and keep walking north. If you look at a map, it's very simple, so long as you walk in the right direction.
