M O N T M A R T R E !!!

It's seven p.m. here. I'm heading back to Montmartre to try and locate the Lapin Agile. The cabaret that was made famous by Picasso who hung out there, along with many other artists.
Here are some of the photos that I took yesterday when I set out on a walking-tour of the area, locating some landmarks and having a cafe' latte in a wonderful cafe' at the foot of Sacre' Coeur.

It's almost 1:00 am. I'm back from Montmartre. I FOUND the Lapin Agile AND 54 Rue Lepic where Theo & Vincent Van Gogh lived from 1886 - 1888. BUT, I forgot my camera back at the apartment!!!

Montmartre is beautiful and magical, and probably impossible to capture it's essence with a photograph. Hilly, narrow, winding, cobblestone streets. Tiny, brightly painted (peeling) storefronts, crowded outdoor cafes. Surprising views of Paris lit up at night, caught through darkened narrow alleyways. All "on top of" having a fascinating history; serving as a locale for bohemian and artistic lifestyle for decades! So many greats lived, played, worked, and created masterpieces here!

(Below is a random sampling of a few of the over two-hundred photos I took.)
