Two Belgian Pigeons, February 19, 2008.
An old Belgian woman dressed all in black,
with her walker, leaving Grand Place along
a cobblestone street.
Me in front of "Manneken Pis." A Belgian Legend.
Practically their "Patron Saint!" A sculpture commissioned
in 1619 of little Belgium boy "taking a piss." In the fountain
here, water flows from his dinky. He has 750 special
costumes and is dressed-up in them for certain days
of the year. He is actually dressed more days, than not,
but today was a "not dressed" day. I saw a number of his
costumes in the museum where they had hundreds on
display. He even has an "Elvis Presley, white jump-suit!"
I tried to take a photo of it, but was told not to.
Shortly after this photo was taken I was practically
TRAMPLED by a large group of Japanese tourists who were
RUNNING down the street screaming "Manneken Pis!!!"
I was told by a Belgium native that the Japanese are especially
WILD for "Manneken Pis." They proved it to me themselves today!
There are some photos of these excitable "M. P. fans" in the
slide show below.
